Horizontal Climbing

Horizontal Climbing was comissioned as part of a late night V&A event. Asked to focus on the relationship of design and sports we decided to invent an exercise which changes basic characteristics as exhaustion and the need of strength into the opposite: Applying rules that assure an unpredictability of the competition, the garments of Horizontal Climbing don’t aim for better results of practice but force climbers to move within a limit of 25 meters – measured in the amount of rope they already used. The traces left on the ground by the ropes display lines that capture the game in a drawing when come to an end.
